Last night the SD Chapter of the ASLA presented the Manzanita Gathering Place with the Award of Merit in recognition of outstanding professional achievement in the environmental category. There was lots of talk about the project, the triangle and the Ocean Discovery Institute! The MGP is definitely just the beginning of this neighborhood transformation.

Rooted In Place received the SD Chapter of the ASLA Jurors Commendation for the Barrio Logan Child Development Center for Institutional Projects. This transformation of a concrete yard to a dynamic play and learning environment has and will continue to impact the lives of the children at teachers at the center.

The Loma Portal Elementary School Parent Foundation received the 2015 ASLA San Diego Community Grant Award for implementation of a native habitat garden and outdoor classroom at the school.
